"Hapa" is me. I adopted the Aloha spirit, but kept that Southern charm. So when I thought about starting my own business, I knew whatever it was it HAD to be island-style. Then I got the insane idea to do a food truck, all because of a conversation I had with a friend on the back porch. And now....here I am....slinging deliciously and deceptively healthy island-style food in East Tennessee.
I started Ono Grindz with a dream in mind and the spirit of the islands in my heart. Island-style food was something I learned about from so many close friends while living and working in the Marshall Islands. My best times there were spent with my island family at the beach, on the back porch, and around the barbecue. Times centered around food and “talking story”, with everyone bringing their unique flavors and flair to the table. So when it was time to leave my island home, I knew I wanted to take a piece of it all with me and Ono Grindz was born. And while I may be far away from those crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches, some things remain true: you won't get styrofoam from me and your food will be made with love and served with a smile.
God has blessed me with such a wonderful life and so it was also important to me to be able to give back, the true island-life way. With a portion of the proceeds, Ono Grindz supports a wide variety of programs. We’ve also have our ohana initiative, FAITH HOPE & ALOHA, which supports many different needs of people in the community from hunger to health. Food that is good and does good, your patronage helps us to help others.
So, Mahalo for stopping by! I hope you enjoy our cruzin’ good eatz. We look forward to seeing you around the way.
Much Love and Aloha,
